Bali Bowls

Bali is a warm, fragrant island full of sunlight I did not request, birds I was not allowed to chase, and humans who insisted on taking photos of me every time I blinked. As a seasoned travel cat, I can respect any destination that offers reliable naps, interesting smells, and the occasional unattended plate of food.

Arrival

I arrived in Bali in a carrier, which I consider a personal insult. As soon as we stepped outside, the air wrapped around me like a hot blanket. My fur expanded. My dignity shrank. My humans said I looked fluffy. I told them, with my eyes, that I looked betrayed.

Accommodation

Our villa had large windows that were perfect for surveillance. Geckos ran along the walls like tiny criminals. I watched them carefully. None were caught. I prefer not to discuss this failure. The bed had crisp white sheets. I claimed them within thirty seconds. My black fur spread over the surface in a tasteful pattern. I consider this interior design.

Food and Drink

The humans ate things called nasi goreng and sate. I was given dry pellets that tasted like disappointment. Fortunately, I managed to steal a small piece of tuna from a plate that was definitely not meant for me. That moment alone improved my opinion of the island.

Beaches

I do not enjoy water. I do enjoy sand. Bali has a great deal of sand.

I walked along the shore, keeping a safe distance from the waves. When the water came closer than I liked, I retreated with great speed and pretended it was all part of my plan. Later, I rolled in the dry sand and brought half of it back to the villa. The humans were not impressed. I was very impressed with myself.

Activities

During my stay I:

  • Followed a butterfly for twenty minutes.

  • Became distracted by a leaf and forgot the butterfly existed.

  • Sat on a warm scooter seat.

  • Stared at the ocean as if I understood the meaning of life.

  • Knocked over a decorative bowl simply because it was there.

The Humans

They took photos of sunsets, temples, flowers, and, most importantly, me. I acted indifferent, but I positioned myself carefully in every frame. Black fur and golden light work very well together.

Final Thoughts

Bali is loud, bright, and full of new smells. It has sunbeams for daytime naps and soft places to sleep at night. There are geckos to watch, sand to explore, and fish to steal if you are quick and charming.

If I had to choose one favourite moment, it would be the quiet walk near the water just before sunset. The air was warm, the sky turned orange and pink, and my humans walked slowly beside me. Even I had to admit that it felt special.

I would return to Bali. Preferably with more tuna and fewer carriers.
